Senate to investigate the sudden closure of Colegio de San Lorenzo
COLEGIO DE SAN LORENZO – Senator Raffy Tulfo filed a resolution seeking the Senate to investigate the sudden closure of CDSL in Quezon City.
It was on August 15 when the school which is located at Congressional Avenue, Project 8, Quezon City announced that its closing its doors to students.
The management of the school decided to permanently shut down the institution due to financial instability caused by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and low enrollment.
The parents were shocked since the school shut down as classes were about to open at the time.
After earning backlash from netizens, Colegio de San Lorenzo released an official statement regarding the matter explaining why they decided to close the said institution.
Meanwhile, Senator Raffy Tulfo Senator Raffy Tulfo filed a resolution seeking the Senate to investigate the sudden closure of the school.
The senator filed Senate Resolution (PSR) No. 156 after he promised teachers and students from CDSL that he would investigate such closure.
“The sudden permanent closure of Colegio de San Lorenzo, despite the contingency measures adopted thereafter, has caused extreme prejudice, physical, psychological, and mental anguish to both the students and parents,” he said.
According to DepEd Spokesperson Michael Poa, the school did not formally inform DepEd of its intention to close.
It can be recalled that some of the teachers and students of the said institution sought the help of Tulfo through his public service program about the school’s closure.
