Father of Chito Miranda passes away

CHITO MIRANDA – The frontman of Parokya ni Edgar shared on social media the passing of his father Alfonso P. Miranda.

The singer went to the image-sharing platform, Instagram wherein he shared about his father’s sudden demise.

His father passed away at the age of 77.

The photo he posted on social media showed a picture of his father beside a marble urn sitting on a bed of flowers.

His post was accompanied by a simple caption.

Chito Miranda then thanked their family and friends for understanding as they wanted it to be simple and only for immediate family.

The singer noted that for them, prayers are enough while they grieve for their loss.

His post was then flooded with condolences.

Meanwhile, Chito Miranda whose real name is Alfonso Yanga Miranda Jr. is a singer-songwriter who’s known as one of the founding members and lead singer for the band Parokya ni Edgar.

Aside from Chito, the OPM band is composed of Buwi Meneses on bass guitar, Darius Semaña on lead guitar, Gab Chee Kee on rhythm guitar, Dindin Moreno on drums, percussion, and Vinci Montaner on backing vocals.

Originally, Parokya ni Edgar was called ‘Comic Relief’. However, they decided to change the name in homage to a Noli me tangere joke in their student days.

Miranda is good friends with fellow Filipino artists Kamikazee vocalist Jay Contreras, and rappers Gloc-9 and the late Francis Magalona.

Chito Miranda is married to former actress-turned-business woman Neri Naig. The two have two kids already.
