CIDG arrests Australian national who tried to kill Pulong Duterte in 2013
PULONG DUTERTE – The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested the Australian national who tried to kill the eldest son of former President Rodrigo Duterte a few years ago.
On Thursday, July 28, Michael Hatcher, 82, was arrested by CIDG after they found out via the E-Warrant System that he has a warrant of arrest issued by a court in Davao City in September 2015.
It was in 2013 when the Australian National ran over the eldest son of Duterte along McArthur Highway in Davao City. He was charged with direct assault upon a person of authority and attempted murder.
The suspect failed to attend the court hearing after posting bail.
Following his arrest, Pulong Duterte released a statement and noted that he decided to withdraw the charges he filed against Hatcher and forgive the Australian national for what he has done a few years ago.
The eldest son of ex-President Duterte explained that he should not get frustrated with Hatcher especially now that he’s already 82 years old.
“I remember very well what happened between me and Mr. Hatcher, and it pains me every time I am reminded of it,” he said.
“I also pray that Mr. Hatcher will finally find peace in his heart and live the rest of his life happily with his loved ones,” he added.
The camp of the Australian national has yet to issue any statement regarding the matter.
Paolo “Pulong” Zimmerman Duterte is the son of PRRD with his ex-wife, Elizabeth Zimmerman.
Currently, he’s serving as the representative of Davao City’s 1st district. He previously served as vice mayor of Davao City from 2013 until his resignation in December 2017.
His sister Sara is the incumbent Vice President of the Philippines, while his brother Sebastian is the incumbent Mayor of Davao City.
