Alden Richards: “What I’m really trying to say is for us to give fair treatment to these dogs”
ALDEN RICHARDS — The Asia’s Multimedia Star called for fair treatment towards “Aspin” or “Asong Pinoy”.
Alden is part of the “I Love My AsPin” campaign of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). Joining him in the said campaign is Kapuso Queen of Creative Collaborations Heart Evangelista, who is a fur mom to Panda.
In a report on GMA News’ 24 Oras, the actor said that every dog should be treated the same — with love and care — regardless of its breed.
“Kapag may breed ‘yung aso, galing sa ganitong bansa, kailangan ipadala sa vet, etc. Bakit hindi rin pwede sa aspin ‘yon? Bakit ‘pag aspin, laging ipapakain ‘yung leftover food, itatali, ikukulong natin?” he said.
He went on to call for fair treatment to those dogs because even “aspins” are also dogs at the end of the day.
Alden was joined by his seven-year-old aspin Chichi during his shoot for the campaign earlier. Chichi is one of his 5 furbabies and has been with him for years.
According to him, his family are all dog lovers and they’re exposed to dogs.

PAWS was founded in 1954 and was reactivated by Nita Hontiveros-Lichauco in 1986.
The organization will have a grand celebration of “National Aspin Day” on Sunday, August 21, at Ayala Malls Manila Bay wherein dog owners and their “aspins” are urged to participate in its whole day event.
