Senator Imee Marcos: “Pangalanan na lahat ng agricultural smuggler na nakakasira ng ating pagsasakang lokal”
SENATOR IMEE MARCOS — On Monday, the senator said that she wants President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to name those involved in agricultural smuggling during his first SONA (State of the Nation Address).
President Bongbong Marcos will deliver his first State of the Nation Address at the Batasang Pambansa on July 25, exactly 25 days since he took his oath as the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines.
Based on a report in GMA News Online, the senator said in an ambush interview that she wants the President to be angry and wants him to name all agricultural smugglers that are destroying the country’s local agriculture.
“Bilang super ate, gusto ko magalit na si Bongbong. Gusto ko magwala na siya, pangalanan na lahat ng agricultural smuggler na nakakasira ng ating pagsasakang lokal,” she said.

Sitting as the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, the President previously warned that the government will go after those involved in agricultural smuggling.

Aside from this, the senator also expressed hope that the President would warn and file charges again corrupt officials in the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), the Bureau of Customs (BOC), and other agencies.
The senator added that it’s “time” to get angry at what is happening in the country. According to her, food prices in the country have increased and the fault “lies in importers, cartels, and syndicates”.
Senator Imee also said that corporations that do not pay their excise taxes should also be apprehended as well.
