Here’s the opinion of Renato Reyes on first SONA of PBBM
RENATO REYES – The Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) Secretary-General gave his opinion about the first State of the Nation Addresss (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
SONA is an annual address by the president of the Republic of the Philippines.
The speech is delivered every fourth Monday of July at the Plenary Session Hall of the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Batasan Hills, Quezon City.
It serves as a means to inform the nation about its present economic, political, and social condition.
On Monday, July 25, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. laid down his plans for the next 12 months in his first SONA.
PBBM shared the current situation of the country, especially with the pandemic brought by the coronavirus, the country’s economic status, and his plans for tourism, social welfare, agriculture and to name a few.
Among those who reacted in the first SONA of PBBM is no less than BAYAN Secretary-General Renato Reyes.
He took to social networking site, Facebook wherein he gave his reaction to PBBM’s first SONA.
According to him, if SONA is simplified, PBBM only promised to lower the poverty rate to 9% but no clear plans to increase the salary, make jobs, end contractualization, and give aid to the poorest of the poor.
He added that President Bongbong Marcos did mention land reform but disregarded land conversion and Rice Tarrification Law, which he claimed to be killing the agriculture sector.
Renato Reyes also noted the problems that might hinder the promises of Marcos Jr. such as an additional tax on digital services, mandatory ROTC, and continuing the Build Build Build program.
Reyes stressed that PBBM failed to talk about human rights, peace, and fighting corruption.
In the last part of his post, he said that PBBM’s SONA is “business as usual.”
Malacañang has yet to issue any statement with regard to the banter of Reyes.
