How much did Mayor Isko Moreno spend during the election campaign?
MAYOR ISKO MORENO – The Elections 2022 Presidential Candidate revealed his total expenses for his campaign.
Mayor Isko is one of the 10 presidential candidates in the Elections 2022. He was the standard-bearer of Aksyon Demokratiko and ran alongside cardiologist Willie Ong who has over 16 million followers on social media.
The Manila Mayor was vocal about his desire to make a different approach in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He also wants to boost the tourism sector in the country and as well as the health and lifestyle of the Filipinos.
However, Mayor Isko was not victorious in the results of the Elections 2022. He was 4th on the list based on votes.
Whether a candidate lost or won, one of the responsibilities following the election is the filing of the Statement of Contributions and Expenditures or SOCE. It is where the candidate will declare the total cash and in-kind donations he or she received and as well as the total campaign spending.
Mayor Isko Moreno has filed his SOCE ahead of the deadline set. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, he revealed total spending of P242.6 million for his campaign in the Elections 2022.
Based on the SOCE filed by Mayor Isko Moreno, his expenses for his campaign reached P242.6 million. Around P1 million came from his personal funds.
It is the first time of the Manila Mayor to seek the presidency but it was not his first time to run for a national post. In 2016, he ran for a seat in the Senate but lost. He took the mayoralty race during the 2019 Midterm Elections and won.
Mayor Isko is vocal that he will retire from politics if he will lose in the 2022 Presidential Elections. According to him, he will devote his time to his family if that happens. He credited his family as the ones who make the biggest sacrifice in his pursuit of public service.
