CLARITA CARLOS – The retired University of the Philippines (UP) professor will be the next National Security Adviser.

Carlos is a retired professor of political science at the University of the Philippines.

Carlos finished a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service at the University of the Philippines, where she also earned master’s and doctorate degrees in Political Science.

She pursued her post-doctoral work in Political psychology and Comparative Foreign Policy Analysis at Cornell University and the University of California at Los Angeles, respectively.

From 1988 to 1998, Carlos worked as a consultant in the Senate of the Philippines.

She also served as President of the National Defense College of the Philippines from 1998 to October 2001.

Since 1993, she has been a consultant for the Local Government Development Foundation.

Carlos has lectured at the National Defense University in the United States as well as at the Council of Asian Liberals & Democrats.

She is a recognized pioneer in Political Psychology in the country.

Earlier, incoming President Bongbong Marcos named Prof. Clarita Carlos as the next National Security Adviser.

Carlos is the first-ever woman to hold the said position which is currently being held by Sec. Hermogenes Esperon.

Meanwhile, Rep. Sandro Marcos took to social media wherein he congratulated Carlos.

“Congratulations to our new National Security Adviser Prof. Clarita Carlos! It was an honor meeting you earlier ma’am. To having many more engaging conversations on policy and the state of geopolitics,” said the incoming presidential son.
