Dela Cruz who is working as an attendant at a gasoline station earns P400 per day. He admits that P200 from his income goes to soft drinks, which he considers his maintenance. If no soft drinks were available, he would drink a mixture of water and sugar.

The gasoline attendant is considering filing retirement but he could not afford to consume a few bottles of soft drinks. His daughter Lyn has also expressed her concern for her father because of his bad habit.

“Minsan nagsasabi siya na masakit yung talampakan niya. Sabi ko baka acid na. Kaso lang po kapag sinasabihan si Papa, parang mamamatay raw siyang kapag wala yung soft drinks. Ayaw talaga niyang magpatigil,” Lyn said.

Mang Virgilio underwent several laboratory tests and was diagnosed with diabetes. The health experts advised him to reduce his sugar intake.
