Vice Pres. Leni Robredo Holds Event w/ Staff of OVP
LENI ROBREDO – The outgoing Vice President made a revelation about some of her friends during an event with the staff of the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
The current administration’s six-year term will end in two days. One of those who will be stepping down is Vice Pres. Leni Robredo. She will return to being a private citizen but will spearhead a non-government organization, the Angat Buhay Foundation.
Robredo ran for the presidential race in the Elections 2022 but her votes placed her 2nd for the position. Meanwhile, the grief of her supporters over the election results was instantly replaced with a new hope.
Vice Pres. Robredo announced the target launching of Angat Buhay, one of the flagship programs of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) during her term, as a non-government organization. Its launching is set for July.
A lot of the supporters of the pink movement did not express their excitement over the upcoming NGO but they also affirmed their participation. It has the capacity to become the biggest NGO in the country.
A few days before she will step down from office, Vice Pres. Leni Robredo held an event with all the staff of the OVP. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, during the said gathering, she expressed her gratitude to all the people who helped her in the office.
“Parang I feel so guilty na ako siguro ang nag-stretch nang grabe sa inyo… Sobrang proud ako sa inyong lahat. Lalo na yung pandemic, marami sa atin ginawa yung trabaho na hindi na niya trabaho,” she said.
Based on the report, during the event, Vice Pres. Leni Robredo recognized how the OVP was “professionalized” although some of her friends developed a negative feeling towards her because she did not interfere with the hiring of the OVP staff and helped those who were asking favors.
“Hindi ako nakialam sa kahit anong hiring, kahit anong promotion. Maraming nagalit sa akin na kaibigan na ipinapakiusap ang mga anak nila na makapasok sa atin… Nagpapasalamat ako ngayon na hindi ko ginawa, kasi isa siya sa mga bagay na dahilan bakit na-professionalize iyong opisina natin, na hindi pulitika ang basehan,” the Vice President said.
