Outgoing Sen. Leila de Lima Goes Through Major Surgery
LEILA DE LIMA – The Senator was granted a medical furlough for major surgery and she recently released an update on her condition.
One of the outgoing senators in the upcoming Elections 2022 is Sen. Leila de Lima who is currently detained at the Custodial Center of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame. She is detained for around five (5) years now.
De Lima was accused of being involved in drug trade inside the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) when she was the secretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ). The Senator maintained her claim of innocence over the accusations and claimed that she is being pressed for her being critical of the Duterte administration.
Recently, several people who made claims against the lady Senator retracted their statements. Some of them claimed that they were only forced to do it.
Recently, the camp of Sen. Leila de Lima filed a medical furlough before two (2) courts handling the cases against her. Her doctors advised her to undergo immediate major surgery.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN, Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 256 and 204 granted the request of the camp of De Lima. She was allowed by the RTC Branch 256 of a medical furlough from June 19 to 23. The RTC branch 204 allowed the Senator from June 19 to 25.
The clearance allows Sen. Leila de Lima to extend her hospital stay until June 28. Based on the report, the surgery on the Senator to treat her Pelvic Organ Prolapse Stage 3 is done. Although she is allowed to stay in the hospital until June 28, she decided to be discharged from the Manila Doctors Hospital earlier.
The Senator was spotted walking to a coaster van with police officers. She expressed her gratitude to the courts for granting her request and making swift action.
