A certain Gary Sabanal has gone to the sea to catch tulingan, tuna, and talakitok. He was fishing peacefully at first until he noticed a shark’s fin.

Sabanal immediately paddled away, but the sharks seemed to be chasing him. One of them was even able to get close to his back.

Fortunately, the sharks disappeared when he got close to the other boats.

If one of the sharks happened to catch him, his boat would surely capsize.

“Alam ko na hindi siya kumakain ng tao pero kung ganoon kalaking mga isda, tapos maliit ang iyong bangka, nkapag nabangga ka, lulubog ka at masisira ang iyong mga gamit,” he said.

After the incident, Sabanal discovered that the sharks chasing him were actually butanding or whale sharks.

The whale sharks were looking for food at the time.

Whale sharks are not dangerous to humans because they only eat plankton and small fish. They are filter feeders so they are also unlikely to eat or harm humans.

Gary and marine conservationists plead not to harm the whales as they are not dangerous to sailors.

Sabanal has been actively posting his fishing adventures via his YouTube channel which now has over 12k subscribers.
