CHURCH OF GOD – The religious group issued a statement over controversy with BBM supporter and international relations expert Sass Rogando Sasot.

Sasot, a staunch supporter of incoming President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., is making a buzz online. This was after the Church of God, a religious group in Dasma turned off the lights and sound system while she was speaking during graduation.

Southern Philippines Institute of Science and Technology (SPIST) earlier held their graduation in Church of God – Dasmarinas City wherein Sasot was the guest speaker.

Apparently, the said group turned off the lights and sound system while she was speaking because of using the church pulpit and allegedly being a “transgender.”

According to the religious group, Sasot “disrespected” their belief. Prior to that, it was already laid down what will happen if the school pursues Sasot of being the guest speaker.

Here’s the official statement of the Church of God:

Sasot, on the other hand, denied using the pulpit of COG.

“I never used your pulpit. I used the podium brought by the school. Clarification lang po,” she said.

SPIST has already issued a statement regarding the incident.

Based on her Facebook profile, Sass has a Combined Major in World Politics and Global Justice, magna cum laude, at Leiden University College, and a Master’s in International Relations from Leiden University.

She was also a former political columnist at The Manila Times and has taught International Relations, Diplomatic Negotiation Skills, Policy Analysis at a European university.

  1. Your Church has seriously damaged it’s reputation due to your handling of this issue.

    The sheer small-minded vindictiveness of your turning off the lights and microphone of a speaker at a graduation ceremony purely because she is transgendered shows that your Church has become corrupted. You no longer honor Jesus and his command to love one another. You would have done the same to Mary Magdalene because she was not ‘pure’ enough for you.

    Your actions were motivated by hate, not love.

    Instead of a small private graduation everyone could enjoy, which otherwise would be forgettable, you illustrated the evil and unjustified hate transgendered and gay people face on a regular basis just because of who they are.

    All those graduating students who used their cell phones to shed light on someone being oppressed by YOU made them true heroes who actually care about people. You made yourself their opposite.

    As a representative of your Church, you should illustrate the love and caring Jesus himself always embodied. You have failed.

  2. The Church of GOD did the right thing because the stage used was considered sacred to them. People may disrespect them for what they did but when it comes to GOD they must abide by the rules in the vicinity.

    If you are a Christian you may understand what they did but if not then you have your rights to say things against them but at the end of your life you’ll be judged according to how you interpret the things you’ve seen and what you have done.

    Church of GOD do not accepted transgender persons because in HIS eye they are abomination persons.

    Deuteronomy 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.

    GOD created all men and women, people with feelings against their gender will also have salvation as long as they were not doing things that are an abomination to HIM. LGBTQ may also be received salvation as long as you are walking on the commandments of GOD.
