Here’s the reaction of Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla on Sasot-COG issue
JONVIC REMULLA – The governor of Cavite defended Sass Rogando Sasot against the Church of God due to “discrimination.”
Sasot, a staunch supporter of incoming President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., has been making a buzz online.
This was after the Church of God (COG), a religious group in Dasmariñas City in Cavite, turned off the lights and sound system in the middle of her speech during the graduation of the senior high school students of Southern Philippines Institute of Science and Technology (SPIST) last June 3.
According to the religious group, Sasot- who was invited to be the guest speaker of the said school, “disrespected” their belief. Prior to that, it was already laid down what will happen if the school pursues Sasot of being the guest speaker.
Church of God has already issued an official statement regarding the incident.
The incident earned mixed reactions from the public and among those who reacted is no less than Cavite governor Jonvic Remulla.
According to Remulla, the Church of God should have shown compassion and tolerance.
He also slammed the people who use faith as a shield to spread hatred and prejudice against a person based on his/her membership in a particular group.
The governor also shared Section 4 of the provincial ordinance which states that discriminating against anyone or any group based on their s*x*al orientation and gender identity or those in the LGBT community is against the law.
