Legarda, a congresswoman from Antique, is running for senator under the slate of the BBM-Sara UniTeam.

The BBM-Sara tandem will go against the tandem of; Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Doc Willie Ong, Senator Manny Pacquiao and Buhay partylist representative, Lito Atienza as well as Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.

Before she became a senator, she was once a journalist and news anchor for ABS-CBN.

Apparently, her son Lorenzo Legarda Leviste did not like the idea she was running under BBM-Sara UniTeam, to the point he disowned his own mother.

In an open letter, he sent to Rappler.com, Lorenzo expressed how disappointed he is towards his mom.

According to him, he could not bear that his mom is supporting the candidacy of BBM and Sara Duterte whom he called “fascist.”

Lorenzo, who is now based abroad and has been there for over five years already, said his mother’s political alliance was a big shame.

Meanwhile, Robin Padilla defended his fellow senatorial aspirant, Loren Legarda.

In his speech at the UniTeam miting de avance in Tagum, Davao del Norte on May 5, Padilla said that even if Legarda is rejected by the people close to her, her supporters will never leave her.
