Globe Telecom, PLDT, and Smart Communications are ready for the May 2022 elections.
The Philippines’ telco giants Globe Telecom, PLDT Inc, and Smart Communications said that they were prepared for the May 2022 elections.
On Friday, Globe Telecom President and CEO Ernest Cu said in a media briefing that Globe’s network is prepared for the automated elections as they have been in previous elections.
“We’ve done everything we can to the best of our ability. We have actually also done this many times before in partnership with the Comelec and whoever are providers of Comelec for voting machines and connectivity needs they have,” said Cu.
Cu added that their team is also on standby in case problems arise, saying that their network teams are on alert in order to ensure that even if there are disruptions, they “do get them repaired very quickly and put back online”.
PLDT FVP and ePLDT Chief Commercial Officer Jojo Gendrano earlier said that PLDT has teams on standby for any emergency.
According to Gendrano, the intent is to provide the best possible services and connections in support of this year’s polls. Gendrano added that they’re dealing with all the major parties involved.
PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, meanwhile, also announced its partnership with ABS-CBN for the “Halalan 2022” coverage. Based on a report, ABS-CBN will run comprehensive election coverage on all of its platforms in order to keep the public informed.

“We thank PLDT and Smart for their continued trust and faith in our news organization and what we stand for,” ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak said. “We look forward to more collaborations with PLDT and Smart in the future as we all aim to keep our kababayans informed, connected, and empowered as citizens of a democratic country.”
