Eddie Gutierrez was emotional when he gave his eulogy for Susan Roces
Veteran actor Eddie Gutierrez shared the last conversation that he had with his longtime screen partner Susan Roces.
Eddie was one of the prominent showbiz personalities who spoke at Susan’s wake. In his eulogy, he recalled the fondest memory that he had with the late veteran actress and it was during the time when they met King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley in Las Vegas, based on the article in PEP.
The veteran actor said that people would always remember the beauty that Susan had inside and out. He said that Susan will truly be missed.
Eddie Gutierrez also recalled their last conversation, it was on the 80th birthday of Susan. “Nung [last] birthday niya, tinawagan ko siya. Sabi ko, ’80!’ ‘Oo nga, 80 na ako,’ sabi niya. Nag-usap kami almost an hour,” the veteran actor said.
At that time, Susan enumerated their “kasabayan” in showbiz who already passed away such as Romeo Vasquez, Amalia Fuentes, Jose Mari Gonzales. Liberty Ilagan, and Lito Legaspi.
“Tayo na lang dalawa,” Susan said to Eddie. The veteran actor recalled that on the last birthday of his longtime screen partner, she suddenly got sad. When they said goodbye to each other over the phone, Susan said to Eddie, “Take care.”
“Sabi ko, ‘Ikaw rin, take care. Mahal na mahal kita, Susan.’ ‘Ikaw rin,’ sabi niya, ‘Mahal kita,’” Eddie Gutierrez shared with tears in his eyes.
The entertainment industry is really saddened by the passing of one of the pillars. Veteran actor Jaime Fabrigas also shared a heartfelt tribute to the one and only Queen of Philippine Movies. The cast of Ang Probinsyano, where Susan Roces had her last TV appearance, paid tribute to her.
