It was on May 5, 2020, National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and Solicitor General Jose Calida issued a cease-and-desist order to ABS-CBN.

On July 10, 2020, members of the House of Representatives, particularly the Committee on Legislative Franchises, voted 70–11 to deny the franchise application of ABS-CBN, citing several issues with the network’s franchise.

Following the closure of the Kapamilya Network, a lot of ABS-CBN employees lost their jobs.

While some of their homegrown talents decided to transfer to other networks, Vice Ganda chose to stay.

Recently, he went to the Pasay rally of the Leni-Kiko tandem wherein he publicly endorsed the candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo.

Vice Ganda is one of the talents of the Kapamilya Network who have endorsed Robredo. Aside from him, also rooting for the latter’s candidacy is Gary Valenciano, Angel Locsin, Kris Aquino and to name a few.

Their support for Robredo was swirled with criticisms that they are only supporting her for the sake and hope to renew the franchise of ABS-CBN.

But Vice Ganda refuted such a rumor. The comedian said they are no longer after the franchise of ABS-CBN since another network already “owns” it.

Meanwhile, Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles lectured Vice Ganda regarding the franchise of ABS-CBN.

Here’s the message of the lawyer to Vice Ganda:

To recall, it was just earlier this year when the NTC awarded channels 2 and 16 (previously used by ABS-CBN) to Advanced Media Broadcasting System Inc., a broadcasting company owned by business tycoon, Manny Villar.
