Sharon Cuneta Reveals She, Darryl Yap Had Conversation Before “Mamili”

Sharon Cuneta and Darryl Yap remained friends despite having different political views

Megastar Sharon Cuneta revealed that she and director Darryl Yap had a conversation before the latter made his choice when it comes to the presidential candidate that he will support.

Sharon and Darryl worked together in the movie Revirginized in 2021 which showcased a different Megastar onscreen. It is known to many that Sharon is supporting Vice President Leni Robredo whose running mate is her husband, Senator Kiko Pangilinan.

On the other hand, Direk Darryl is supporting UniTeam’s candidates, former Senator Bongbong Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

In a recent interview for her Iconic concert with Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, Sharon Cuneta revealed that she and Darryl Yap talked before the latte made his political decision, based on the article in The Philippine Star.

Si Direk Darryl nag-textan kami before siya namili, sabi ko hindi ko siya pipigilan kung ano ang gusto mo,” the Megastar said. She also said that she is not insisting her friends to also believe what she believes. “I don’t like to judge people according to their choices kasi ayokong jinu-judge ako sa choices ko,” she added.

Sharon also showed appreciation to Darryl for deleting mean comments against Sen. Kiko. “Inaapreciate ko ‘yung tinatanggal niya ‘yung bad comments about my husband dahil mahal niya ako. Mahal ko rin siya,” the actress-singer said.

On the other hand, Sharon Cuneta admitted that she got hurt when Direk Darryl Yap created videos against the presidential candidate she is supporting. However, the Megastar said that the director is still her friend and she respects him. Sharon added that she is still willing to do movies with Direk Darry in the future.
