Police officer who got hooked on online sabong, arrested and is facing estafa, other charges
ONLINE SABONG – A police officer who got addicted to e-sabong was arrested.
Online sabong or eSabong is the online/remote or off-site wagering/betting on live cockfighting matches, events, and/or activities streamed or broadcasted live from cockpit arena/s licensed or authorized by the Local Government Units having jurisdiction thereof.
Currently, the Senate is investigating the incidents relating to e-sabong, especially the sabungeros who earlier went missing, and even until now, are yet to be found.
Unfortunately, a lot of incidents have been recorded due to online sabong. There are even bettors who committed crimes because of being addicted to the “talpakan.”
In fact, there was even a mother who previously sold her child because of her debts out of playing online sabong.
Among the latest is a police officer who was arrested after committing several things due to his addiction to “talpakan.”
The police officer was identified as PLT. John Kevin Ramos Menes, 24, of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group assigned in PRO 4A.
Allegedly, Menes took the car of his team member and mortgaged it for only 170,000.
It was retrieved when the police officer was arrested at an E-sabong Joint in Sta. Mesa, Manila where he was barred to play because of his 15,000 debt there.
He could not also explain where did he take the P500,000 budget of the PDEG PRO4A which was supposed to be used in a drug buy-bust operation.
