Here’s an update about the case of a mother who sold her baby due to e-sabong debts

E-SABONG – The baby girl who was sold by her own mom due to online sabong debts, has been rescued by the authorities.

The baby girl was rescued by the National Bureau of Investigation Human Trafficking Division from a Nigerian male and his Filipina partner. But the Filipina denied buying the baby and claimed that the child was given to her by a nurse.

The Nigerian national who was found out an overstaying foreigner as per investigation and his Filipina partner will face child trafficking and other charges.

Now, the NBI is investigating if the Nigerian is also part of a larger syndicate involved in child trafficking.

Previously, a 22-year-old mother appealed to the authorities to help her locate the “buyers” with whom she sold her own child. The mother said she sold her own daughter for only P45,000 due to e-sabong debts.

According to Atty. Janet Francisco, chief of NBI-Human Trafficking Division, the retrieval of the baby dubbed as “Baby Miracle” was carried out with the help of a fastfood chain, a local transport company as well as national and local government agencies.

Presently, the baby girl is under the custody of a social worker and the child is unlikely to be returned to her mother. But for the baby’s father, he wants their family to become whole again.

  1. Bakit nabaliktad? Eh diba inamin ng nanay na IBINENTA niya yung sariling anak niya at meron pa siyang pinirmahan. Nasa kaniya yung pera at diba pinamili na nga niya ng celfone etc. Dahil sa utang kaya nagawa. Nung nakonsyensya saka gusto na uli bawiin yung bata. Kaya lumapit sa awtoridad para tulungan bawiin yung bata sa pinagbentahan. Paano ngayon child-trafficking?
