Here’s the message of Atienza to Lacson after asking him to back out of the presidential race which he declined
LITO ATIENZA – The House Deputy Speaker and Buhay Partylist Representative apologized to Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson after asking him to back out of the presidential race.
Atienza is running for vice-president along with presidential bet Senator Manny Pacquiao while Lacson is running for the highest position along with Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.
Their respective tandem will go against the tandem of; former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Doc Willie Ong.
Last week, Atienza urged Lacson to withdraw his candidacy and let Pacquiao and Sotto, form a new tandem.
However, Lacson firmly rejected Atienza’s call.
“Hindi expected ‘yung reaction ni Ping. He rejected the idea outright. He, in fact, considered it an insult and I apologize publicly. Sabi ko, ‘hindi naman insulto ‘yun’. I did not mean to insult Ping,” Atienza said.
Meanwhile, Lacson took to the microblogging site Twitter wherein he responded to Atienza.
“In all humility, apology accepted,” he wrote.
The candidates for national and local posts are busy campaigning as the election date nears.
The candidates are doing their all in wooing the voters.
Previously, the nine presidential candidates faced off in the second presidential debate sponsored by the Commission on Election (Comelec).
Apparently, BBM was not present anew.
However, according to Sen. Ping Lacson, round 2 of the Comelec sponsored debate was boring.
