Young Kids Join Clash Between Vendors & Market Personnel

The video footage of young kids joining the clash between vendors and market personnel earns criticisms online.

Last March 11, 2022 (Friday), the Market Authority installed yellow railings along Quezon Boulevard to close Bagsakan in Unit II. Carbon Market vendors showed their opposition and even tried to stop the installation of the railings.

Carbon Market complex vendors, and residents pushed back the yellow railings to show their opposition to the Carbon modernization program, which they believe a form of privatization of the public market.

Eventually, the Market Authority personnel pulled out the railing after the vendors and some residents kept on pushing back the railing for nearly an hour.

However, the Market Authority head Racquel Arce explained that the yellow railings aim to keep vendors in the Bagsakan Market and serve as a line separating the sidewalk from the road.

Recently, the Facebook page “CDN Digital” has shared the actual footage of little children participating on feud between vendors and market personnel in Cebu City. The video garnered various reactions from the netizens.

In the video, it can be seen that numerous children hit and shook the steel barricade during the clash between Carbon Market vendors and Market Operations Division personnel. the City Council condemned the incident.

Councilor Joel Garganera send the video to Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for immediate action. The City Council asked the two agencies to launch a probe regarding the incident.
