Meet Mariel Larsen, a Filipina who works as a fruit picker in Australia and is earning P200k a month
MARIEL LARSEN – A Pinay fruit picker in Australia is earning more than 200,000 pesos a month.
The 23-year-old Filipina has been living in Australia for four years already where she met her Australian fruit picker husband.
In order to help her husband, she also worked as a fruit picker and now, she’s earning as much as AU$3,000-AU$6,000 a month or PHP113,000-PHP226,000.
Mariel shared that what they are doing is not an easy job because they need to fill large bins with fruits. Each bin should be filled with 300-500 kilos of fruits.
“May routine na po kami every year. Meron po kaming farm na permanently na po talaga na pabalik-balik kami sa iba’t ibang prutas na tinatrabahuan po namin,” she shared.
Because their work is on the field, she and her husband decided to live in a camper van. This way, it is convenient for them to go to different farms.
Mariel and her husband are really working word because they are planning to have their own home in the next three years.
Through her YouTube channel (Marielasin), she shared a glimpse of her life as a fruit picker.
She admitted that she received criticisms from netizens with some telling her to focus on her family instead of working. But she insists to do it in order to help her husband.
On the other hand, her husband is supportive of her decision to work as a fruit picker.
