Sen. Manny Pacquiao Speaks on Upcoming Debate Question
MANNY PACQUIAO – The presidential candidate and incumbent Senator urges the Commission on Elections (Comelec) not to give the debate questions to the candidates in advance.
Presidential debates are undeniably among the most-awaited events of many Filipino voters during the election. A lot of people want to hear the stand of the candidates on certain issues and as well as their platforms and visions should they win the presidency.
Previously, the CNN Presidential Debate 2022 was held. Nine out of the 10 candidates for president attended the event and only Partido Federal ng Pilipinas standard-bearer and former Senator Bongbong Marcos was absent.
Following the event, the camp of Marcos Jr. said that the former Senator wants the Comelec and the presidential candidates to discuss the formate of the debate first including the topics to be included prior to the debate.
Comelec previously said that it will inform the presidential candidates of the debate topics for the next event. Some presidential candidates are not in favor of it.
Sen. Manny Pacquiao is one of the presidential candidates who are not in favor of the giving of the debate topics prior to the event. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the PROMDI standard-bearer stressed that questioning a candidate on-the-spot will give the people the chance to see the sense of purity of the candidate with regards to their intention.
According to the Senator, a candidate who is running for president must be ready to answer any question that will be asked and must not be picky in terms of the questions. He stressed that all types of questions may be asked if you are applying to be the leader of the country.
““At the end of the day, kung failure ang administration niya, tapos maghanap ka ng accomplishments, sabihin niya, ‘Bakit? Nangako ba ako sa inyo?’ ‘Pag sa debate nangako ka ng pagbabago at ‘di mo natupad, pwede mo balikan, pwede mong isumbat,” the PROMDI standard-bearer said.
