Isko Moreno “Bad Grammar” Criticism: Aksyon Demokratiko Bets React

Isko Moreno is being criticized for his “bad grammar”

Aksyon Demokratiko candidates defended presidential aspirant Isko Moreno against critics who are attacking his ability in speaking English.

For Moreno’s running mate Dr. Willie Ong, these bashings are just the effort coming from those who want to pull the numbers of the Manila Mayor, based on the report from ABS-CBN News.

Ong also highlighted how Moreno is striving to learn from his humble beginning in life. “I think paninira lang ‘yun para lang bumaba yung number niya. ‘Yung effort niya talaga matuto bilang basurero, ‘yun ‘yung nakakabilib. Talagang inaaral niya,” the cardiologist said.

The doctor also shared that at times, when Moreno writes his speeches, the Mayor would ask him how a certain word is spelled. “Sabi ko nag-aaral siya. Talagang gusto niya matuto kasi talagang gusto niya magserve sa inyo,” Ong added.

For senatorial candidate Carl Balita, it is but natural for Mayor Isko Moreno to commit mistakes in using the English language as this is not his mother tongue. He said that there is no issue with this as English is just a second language for Moreno.

Minsan sumasablay siya sa plural at singular pero ang mahalaga ano yung laman, ano ‘yung content at ano ‘yung context,” Balita added.

Mayor Isko Moreno said that he is not offended by the negative comments about his grammar. He said that his aim is to improve himself and until now, he is learning and improving his communication skills using English. For him, it is very challenging.

Aside from this, the campaigning around the country is also challenging for him, especially on the physical aspect. “Nakakapagod physically kasi yung gusto kong kampaniya wherein what we want is dumiretso sa taongbayan, dumiretso sa tao,” the Manila Mayor said.
