The company said in a press release that this was designed to make it easier for the media to find this data for their stories, adding that it’s a tool that helps surface the top queries, topics, and most-searched presidential and vice-presidential candidates running in the 2022 elections.

In addition, the company stressed that the Google Trends Philippine Elections is not a survey or poll and doesn’t reflect voting intentions.

The Google Trends Philippine Elections merely reflects people’s search interest about particular topics at a local level over a period of time. An increase in a particular search query doesn’t reflect that a political candidate is somehow “winning” or “popular”.

Also, the company added data on top policy issues searched in each part of the country, such as economy, agriculture, tourism, and education, among others. The company noted that all the charts from the page are embeddable and will continue to update even after they are placed on a media’s website.

At the moment, the page showed that Vice President Leni Robredo is the most- searched presidential candidate last week, followed by former senator Bongbong Marcos, Senator Manny Pacquiao, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, and Senator Ping Lacson.

Meanwhile, the page showed that Davao City Mayor Sara Dutere is the most-searched vice-presidential candidate last week, followed by Senator Kiko Pangilinan, Senate President Tito Sotto, Walden Bello, and Lito Atienza.

As per the top searched political issues, Education is the most-searched political issue followed by Drugs, Economy, Tourism, Agriculture, Justice, and Poverty.
