Elsa Klensch passes away
ELSA KLENSCH – The former fashion anchor of CNN passed away at the age of 92.
Klensch rose to fame as host and producer of “Style with Elsa Klench” which aired on the said network from 1980-2001.
She’s also a pioneer in fashion journalism on television after her TV crew started to cover fashion events in the ’80s.
Because of her segment, fashion stints were given a chance to be aired on television including her backstage interviews.
According to allamericanspeakers.com, Klensch has five daily segments wherein she gives a report about fashion, beauty, and decorating.
Style is one of the original CNN news feature programs that showcase designs and has a regular schedule on CNN in the US.
Before she became part of CNN, she worked as fashion reporter and editor at Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, at W.
Klensch was born in Cooranbong, New South Wales, Australia.
She also worked as a journalist in Australia, London, and Hong Kong before she transferred to New York City and eventually landed on CNN.
She was the author of illustrated advice book called Style. She also wrote mystery novels such as: Live at 10:00, Dead at 10:15; Shooting Script; Take Two, and The Third Sin.
In 1987, she was awarded by the Council of Fashion Designers of America for her consistent leading in reporting about international fashion.
She met her husband named Charles Klensch when she was in Hong Kong.
At the time, Charles is the news bureau chief of American Broadcasting Company in Saigon, Vietnam.
They got married in the 1960s, amid the war in Vietnam.
