In his “Talk to the People” public address aired Monday night, the President said that he was exposed to someone who was concerned about his health when he had an accident while riding a motorcycle.

The President claimed that the aide, who was not named, might also have skipped mandatory quarantine. However, the President explained that he had a check-up upon arriving in Malacañang but tested “negative” for COVID-19.

The President added that he wasn’t infected because he had completed his vaccination.

President Duterte also said that he’s glad that they’re finally able to resume his weekly public address, saying that many Filipinos were relying on the program for new information.

I am glad, maligaya ako, na nag-resume tayo sa ating programang ‘Talk to the People’,” President Duterte said.

The President said that their program had been giving “information that they do not hear from other sources”.

According to him, his weekly Cabinet meeting had given the people timely updates on the government’s pandemic response. He also said that his Cabinet members were expected to spread information about the government’s response to COVID-19.

The other Cabinet members are present, they may want to talk to the people, there is new information in their department which is hindi natin alam hanggang ngayon. Only if they want to and if they have something to say that is more or less substantial and informative for the people,” the President said.
