Pangilinan is gearing up for the second-highest position in the government this coming May 9, 2022 election.

Together with his runningmate, Vice President Leni Robredo, they will go against the tandem of; former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Doc Willie Ong, Senator Manny Pacquiao and Buhay partylist representative, Lito Atienza as well as Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.

On Saturday, February 19, he aired a statement over the dismantling of election tarpaulins by the Commission on Elections and the Philippine National Police.

According to him, the so-called “Oplan Baklas” was illegal.

He then urged the Comelec and PNP to prove they are fair and impartial.

“Ang balita natin ang binabaklas lang ay iyong mga wala sa administrasyon kaya hindi tama. Ang panawagan natin sa Comelec at PNP patunayan niyo na patas kayo at impartial kayo,” he said.

Kiko Pangilinan claimed that the said government agencies don’t have the power to dismantle election tarpaulins for example if the person who posted it is a private individual and not a candidate and installed it in his/her property.

Pangilinan cited the mural in Isabela which was painted over by authorities.

Comelec and PNP are yet to issue statements with regards to the message of Pangilinan.
