Senator Joel Villanueva tests positive for coronavirus disease

JOEL VILLANUEVA – The incumbent senator tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic remains to be the biggest challenge that the country is facing today. This disease that started way back in 2019 in Wuhan, China has placed a lot of lives at risk and has even taken the lives of many people.

A lot of personalities such as celebrities, elites, and even politicians were infected with the coronavirus as well.

Among those who contracted the dreaded virus is no less than Senator Joel Villanueva.

Recently, he announced that he’s positive for coronavirus based on the result of his RT-PCR test that had been released on Thursday.

According to him, he underwent the said test after having a fever and headache on Wednesday.

The senator believes that he could overcome this since he’s already vaccinated and has received his booster shot.

The senator also advised those who had close contact with him. He’s now in isolation.

Meanwhile, the country is being threatened with the continuous increase of COVID-19 cases. In fact, there are 18,191 new COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of Thursday, January 27, 2022.

On the other hand, 74 new deaths have been recorded, raising the total number of fatalities to 53,736 while 22,014 additional recoveries have been logged bringing the total of 3,213,190.

Since the start of the pandemic, the Philippines has confirmed 3,493,447 COVID-19 cases. Currently, there are 226,521 active cases.
