The Cusi-led PDP-Laban has adopted Sara Duterte as its vice-presidential candidate.
The Cusi-led PDP-Laban has adopted Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte as its vice-presidential candidate for the 2022 elections.
The party made the announcement on Friday after making a decision based on Mayor Sara’s “credentials, advocacies, and vision for our nation”.
Also, the Cusi-led PDP-Laban party said that the party was already finalizing its terms of alliance agreement with Lakas-CMD, a party chaired by Mayor Sara.
“Based on these, the PDP Laban has decided that the quality of her advocacies and vision are strongly aligned that of the party,” it said.
The party also believed that the quality of Mayor Sara’s leadership and track record in the performance of her duties in her current office made her most qualified for the position she’s aspiring for and therefore deservices the party’s support.
The Cusi-led PDP-Laban also said that Mayor Sara’s election to the vice presidency will help ensure the continuity of the vital program of the current administration, which his father, President Rodrigo Duterte, who was also the party chair, currently leads.
“These include the fight against criminality, corruption, terrorism and illegal drugs; and the ‘Build, Build, Build’ program and other programs which need to be sustained so that the Filipino people may continue to benefit from their gains,” it said.

Moreover, the party said that it’s now launching its campaign for Mayor Sara as it also called on its party members to “hold their ground, stand firm on the principles and ideals of the party, and toe the party line”.
Meanwhile, the Cusi-led PDP-Laban remained without a presidential bet following the withdrawal of candidacy of Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go.
Mayor Sara is running alongside presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) after forming a political alliance with him called “BBM-Sara UniTeam”.
