Here’s the reaction of Kapamilya party-list nominee on ABS-CBN frequencies issue
JERRY GRÁCIO – The Kapamilya party-list nominee took to social media wherein he slammed Manny Villar’s take over of frequencies previously used by ABS-CBN.
Earlier, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) awarded channels 2 and 16 to Advanced Media Broadcasting System Inc., a broadcasting company owned by business tycoon, Manny Villar.
The acquisition generated mixed reactions from the netizens and among those who reacted is no less than Kapamilya party-list nominee Jerry Grácio.
On Facebook, he wrote: “So, sa Capalmella Channel, malamang ang mga shows, walang research, dahil ayaw ni Cynthia ng mga baliw na baliw sa research.”
“Capalmella Channel” is a combination of Kapamilya and Camella- the subdivision owned by the Villar family.
His post also generated mixed reactions. Here are some comments:
Grácio also reacted to the awarding of Channel 43 to Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI), owned by Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, who’s also the owner of UHF Channel 40 which broadcasts programs of his religious group Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
Channel 43, the frequency used for ABS-CBN TV Plus, was previously used by Amcara Broadcasting Network and ABS-CBN.
Aside from granting frequencies to Villar and Quiboloy’s broadcasting companies, NTC also granted frequencies to Aliw Broadcasting Corporation, which operates a number of stations under the Home Radio and DWIZ brands.
NTC has given the said broadcasting company provisional authority to operate Channel 23 that previously aired Studio 23 and ABS-CBN Sports+Action.
It can be recalled it was on May 5, 2020, National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and Solicitor General Jose Calida issued a cease-and-desist order to ABS-CBN.
On July 10, 2020, members of the House of Representatives, particularly the Committee on Legislative Franchises, voted 70–11 to deny the franchise application of ABS-CBN, citing several issues on the network’s franchise.
