PDP-Laban Cusi faction: “He did it for a good reason”
CUSI FACTION — Here’s what the faction of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) said after Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go announced his withdrawal from the 2022 presidential race.
Go filed his candidacy under PDDS (Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan) because of the unresolved row between the ruling party’s two factions.
PDP-Laban president and Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi said in an interview on TeleRadyo that party officials and Go had a talk before the latter made his decision.
“When he made that decision, I believe and I’m sure he did it for a good reason and nasabi ko nga po that we respect that decision and support that,” Cusi said.
Cusi’s statement came after Go announced his withdrawal from the 2022 presidential race, saying that his mind and heart were contradicting his actions in the past few days.
He also said on Tuesday that he had called a meeting with the party’s national executive committee on Wednesday for a “process of evaluation” and their next step.
Cusi said this when he was asked if the PDP-Laban Cusi-wing would support the candidacy of vice-presidential aspirant and incumbent Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
Mayor Sara is running for vice president in tandem with former senator Bongbong Marcos.

When asked if the PDP-Laban Cusi-wing may support the presidential bid of Senator Manny Pacquiao, Cusi said “No comment on that.“
Last October, the Cusi-led faction expelled Pacquiao from the ruling party due to differences.
Cusi told TeleRadyo that the PDP-Laban believed in party politics and also believed in a program of government that they would like to pursue.
“Ang partido naniniwala sa party politics and we believe in a program of government that we would like to pursue,” Cusi said. “And if we ever support a candidate, we must believe in a candidate that he can pursue it in the same zealousness that President Duterte has started.“
