Actor Gerald Anderson donated relief goods for “Odette” victims through Coast Guard.

GERALD ANDERSON — The Kapamilya actor recently donated relief goods to be delivered in areas affected by typhoon “Odette”.

On Monday, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said in a Facebook post that it thanked PCG Auxiliary Commander Gerald Anderson for doing his part in helping those affected by typhoon “Odette” in Mindanao and the Visayas.

Among the relief goods Gerald donated were sacks of rice and drinking water. They were boarded onto the BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301) en route Western Visayas and Northeastern Mindanao.

ABS-CBN News reported that the number of storm-related deaths nationwide climbed throughout Monday as rescue efforts continued in hard-hit areas.

Typhoon “Odette”, with the international name “Rai”, displaced nearly 490,000 people in the country before moving toward the South China Sea over the weekend. Also, the typhoon left a trail of destruction in Surigao del Norte, Leyte, Cebu, and the Dinagat Islands.

In a separate post on PCG’s Facebook page, Gerald and Auxiliary Ensign Julia Barretto called on Filipinos who wanted to join the Coast Guard’s massive relief transport missions.

Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte vowed to raise additional funds for the rehabilitation and recovery efforts in areas affected by typhoon “Odette”.
