Information officer of Mayor Sara Duterte has been terminated
SARA DUTERTE – The incumbent mayor of Davao City has fired her information officer who attended a party that was later raided for drugs.
Jefry Tupas was terminated a day after attending a party where some P1.5-million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated by anti-narcotics officers.
“Last Sunday, Jefry signified his resignation and on the same moment [she] was informed that [she] is terminated from work with the City Government of Davao,” the office of the city mayor said.
Earlier, Tupas admitted in an interview that he attended the party. But he and his boyfriend and another friend left early.
The office of Mayor Sara said, “details of the raid are known only to the PDEA officers in Davao de Oro and Ms. Tupas.”
Last Saturday, around P1.5 million worth of suspected drugs were found at a resort in Davao de Oro during an anti-drug operation.
At least 17 people were arrested by the operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). Some were caught during a drug session.
Since 2016, President Rodrigo Duterte, the father of Mayor Sara, has been waging a massive war against illegal drugs.
Last week, the president said that he’s taking full responsibility for the drug war that took the life of thousands of people. However, he stressed that he will never cooperate in the investigations which will be launched by the International Criminal Court.
Meanwhile, Sara Duterte-Carpio herself has yet to issue any statement regarding the matter.
