Eleazar’s warning came after the Caloocan City Police arrested 5 people in Camarin, Caloocan City last November 5 for allegedly selling daily time records for PHP 30 each to residents they claimed would receive money from Senator Manny Pacquiao for cleaning the community.

The suspects also claimed that they’re members of Senator Pacquiao’s staff and were ordered to recruit cleaners who would be given PHP 7,500. Eleazar said that Senator Pacquiao had since denied any involvement in the scheme.

Also, Eleazar said that there were also other personalities who fell prey to the modus of other criminal elements to dupe people of their money.

There are many fraudsters today who will take advantage of the need and desperation of other people to make money,” Eleazar said. “Often the modus operandi of scammer is to mention the names of personalities to gain the trust of the victim, the promise of a huge return on a small investment, or the instant income effortlessly.”

Moreover, Eleazar encouraged the public to immediately report to the authorities if they fell victim to fraudsters involved in this kind of modus or any other scam.

Eleazar also assured the public that they will hold those behind the modus operandi accountable.
