CIDG arrests former councilor involved in killing of Los Baños mayor
NORVIN TAMISIN – The former councilor was arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) for his involvement in the killing of Los Baños, Laguna mayor Caesar Perez.
The ex-councilor was apprehended by the personnel of the CIDG Batangas at around 5:01 pm on Tuesday, November 2, in Baguio City.
Tamisin has been arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest for murder charges filed against him following his involvement in the death of Mayor Perez, who was killed inside the town’s municipal hall in 2020.
According to the CIDG, the personnel of the CIDG Baguio City and Laguna police also assisted in the operation against the ex-councilor.
The arrested former councilor who is currently under the custody of the CIDG Batangas is the sixth most wanted person in the entire Calabarzon.
Currently, the primary investigation arm of the Philippine National Police is preparing the complete report regarding the arrest of Tamisin.
It was on December 3 when Perez was shot by unidentified assailants while walking to the receiving area of their municipal hall.
He was rushed to the hospital after being shot to the head twice. However, he did not survive.
Previously, the slain mayor was accused by President Rodrigo Duterte of being involved in illegal drugs.
He denied the allegations and called it “politically motivated.” At the time, he claimed that a political rival was likely the mastermind behind his inclusion in the “narco list” of President Duterte.
Meanwhile, the family of Perez has yet to issue any statement following the arrest of Tamisin.
