Bongbong Marcos Says Leni Robredo Should Tell Her Supporters To Withdraw DQ Petition

Bongbong Marcos: “Pagdating ng panahon, sasagutin pa rin natin.

BONGBONG MARCOS — The presidential aspirant and former senator said on Monday that Vice President Leni Robredo should tell those calling for his disqualification for the 2022 elections to withdraw the petition against him.

This, after Robredo denied that her camp was behind the case filed against the former senator, saying that such move wasn’t needed if the purpose was to remove him from the presidential race in 2022.

Sabihin niya (Robredo) sa mga kasama niya na i-withdraw (‘yong petition) kung ganoon ang kaniyang opinyon,” Bongbong said during a press briefing.

Bongbong was referring to Robredo’s statement saying that she didn’t need to file a disqualification case against the former senator for the upcoming presidential campaign in 2022 since she won in 2016 without such measures.

Bongbong also said he would answer the issues at the right time.

Pagdating ng panahon, sasagutin pa rin natin at papakita natin na walang grounds para mag-dismiss sa aking kandidatura,” Bongbong said.

It was last week when a group of human rights advocates filed before the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) a petition to cancel Bongbong’s certificate of candidacy (COC) based on his conviction on 4 criminal cases violating the Tax Code.

GMA News Online reported that the petitioners argued the conviction constituted a crime of moral turpitude, thus, disqualifying the former senator as provided under the Omnibus Election Law.

The Marcos camp described the said petition as a “nuisance”.

Bongbong filed his COC for president last October 6, a day after he took his oath as a member of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), a political party allied with the Duterte administration.
