Sen. Bong Go willing to undergo comprehensive drug test
BONG GO – The senator and presidential aspirant said that he’s ready to undergo a drug test to prove to the Filipino people that he is mentally and physically fit to become the leader of the nation.
The former aide of President Rodrigo Duterte will run for the highest position in the coming elections.
He will go against presidential aspirants such as; Vice President Leni Robredo, former Senator Bongbong Marcos, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, and Senators Manny Pacquiao, as well as Ping Lacson.
Talks about mandatory drug testing among aspirants are still on.
Among those who expressed their interest to undergo a comprehensive drug test is Senator Bong Go. Aside from that, he’s also willing to go through a neuro test.
But the senator stressed that undergoing as such must be voluntary.
It was in 2008 when the Supreme Court declared the provision in the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 mandating drug testing to all candidates for public office, as unconstitutional.
He also claimed that he hasn’t used an illegal drug ever since.
“Ako naman, no (never ako nag-drugs). Hindi rin ako mahilig uminom. Pero mayroon akong bisyo. Sabihin ko na lang sa inyo ngayon. Ang bisyo ko mag serbisyo. Bata pa ako, bisyo ko na ang magserbisyo hanggang ngayon,” he said.
Meanwhile, Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Tesoro Go has been serving as a Senator since 2019.
But before being elected as senator, he served in President Rodrigo Duterte’s Cabinet as Special Assistant to the President (SAP) and Head of the Presidential Management Staff from June 2016 to October 2018.
Go has served as the personal aide and special assistant to Duterte since 1998, back when Duterte was still mayor of Davao City.
At present, he is the chairman of the Senate committee on health and demography.
