Pinay Actress Andrea Brillantes Reveals She Has Medical Condition Called “Congenital Anosmia”
The young Pinay actress Andrea Brillantes revealed that she has no sense of smell since birth, a medical condition called “congenital anosmia”.
Anndrew Blythe Daguio Gorostiza or popularly known as Andrea Brillantes is a Filipina actress and recording artist who rose to fame for her titular character in Annaliza and as Marga Bartolome in Kadenang Ginto.
Blythe started her career in the children’s comedy show Goin’ Bulilit.and started to regularly appear in ABS-CBN drama series since 2010. She has been already featured in various Philippine movies, television programs and commercials.
The 18-year-old actress has also won several awards and nominations from different award-giving bodies because of her impressive acting and entertaining skills.
Recently, the video of Andrea revealing that she has a medical condition called “congenital anosmia” is spreading like a wildfire online. The video garnered various reactions from the online community.
Brillantes first made her statement last year during an exclusive interview on YouTube showbiz hub “Pikapika Showbiz”. She made the revelation after the host asked her preferred candle scent.
The young celebrity revealed that she has no sense of smell since birth due to her medical condition. She explained that the congenital anosmia gives her lifelong inability to smell.
“Pero wala akong pang-amoy. Pinanganak po akong walang sense of smell. Meron po akong congenital anosmia,” Brillantes said.
The actress said that she loves flavorful foods such as fatty and sweets. She also desires to have a sense of smell especially the scent of honey. The only thing she can smell is rubbing alcohol.
“‘Di ko alam. Feeling ko kaya po talaga ako mahilig sa malasa, kaya ako masagana kumain, mahlig ako sa fatty food, sa matatamis kasi baka kulang nga yung panlasa ko, Meron akong desire na amoy. Actually yung naaamoy ko lang talaga is alcohol, yung rubbing alcohol. Dapat one hundred percent. Di ko nga alam kung amoy ba siya or parang feeling lang na ang anghang niya sa ilong,” Andrea added.
