In his Talk to the People, the President hit the senators who allegedly threatened not to give a budget to his office.

“Tingnan mo, subukan mo. I challenge you, huwag kang manakot, gawin mo. O i-zero budget mo ang Office of the President. Sige nga , gawin mo daw,” he said.

President Duterte stressed that all government funds go through him.

He said he is the one who gives the go-signal to release funds to the government so there is nothing the legislator can do if he does not act to provide the funds to his office.

The President called the threats made by the senators an abuse that could potentially result in the paralysis of the government.

The senator’s threat to cut funding to executive agencies took root after President Duterte banned his cabinets from attending the never-ending Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on the issue of allegedly overpriced purchases of government medical supplies to address the COVID-19 problem.

Earlier, the committee questioned how Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp. won several contracts worth over ₱8 billion including those awarded for the supply of alleged “overpriced” face masks and face shields

But Duterte kept on defending the country’s top medical supplier amid the pandemic despite evidence and testimonies from the employees and executive officials of the said company.
