Manila Mayor Isko Moreno responded to DILG “superspreader event” claim.
Presidential aspirant Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso was asked if he’s aware that the Department of Interior and Local Government wanted to conduct an investigation into his event which the DILG cited as a possible “superspreader event”.
During the Isko Moreno (IM) convention in Batangas on Friday, he said that he’s open to being investigated by the DILG for his campaign rally.
According to Moreno, Senator Ralph Recto and the group and Lipa City government have followed all the procedures and health protocols and so he believed that due diligence was done by the city of Lipa and the province of Batangas.
“They are entitled to do what they have to do,” Moreno said.

Moreno’s response came after Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said that he will look into possible violations on provisions of mass gathering caused by a “politician running for a national position”.
According to him, he had a report in Batangas that a “running politician for a national position” went to Batangas and there’s a sort of a violation on the provisions of mass gathering.
CNN Philippines reported that Isko Moreno went to Batangas Friday morning, attracting huge crowds of spectators and supporters.
Manila Bulletin reported that Senator Ralph Recto, senatorial candidates Samira Gutoc, Carl Balita, Jopet Sison, vice-presidential candidate Dr. Willie Ong, and Moreno himself were also present at the said event.
Meanwhile, Lipa City’s legislative council passed a resolution authorizing Mayor Eric Africa “to enter into a sister city relationship” with the City of Manila.
In a separate resolution, the City of Lipa declared Isko Moreno as its “adopted son” as the city recognized Moreno for his “invaluable assistance to the people of Batangas” during the Taal Volcano eruption last January 12, 2020 and the onslaught of the coronavirus pandemic.
