MMDA Chair Abalos: “Sana po by the end of the one week pa mag-alert level 3 na po ang Metro Manila.”
METRO MANILA – Benhur Abalos, the chairman of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), said the National Capital Region may shift to Alert Level 3.
It was on September 16 when the pilot implementation of the new quarantine protocols in Metro Manila started.
From ECQ (enhanced community quarantine), MECQ (modified enhanced community quarantine), MGCQ (modified general community quarantine), and GCQ (general community quarantine) it will be changed to Alert Level System.
There will be five alert levels to be implemented in local government units depending on the number of COVID-19 cases and healthcare system capability.
Metro Manila has been placed under Alert Level 4 for two weeks already.
This means the case transmission is high, as well as the hospital bed utilization rate and hospital ICU (intensive care unit) utilization rate.
But according to MMDA chief Benhur Abalos, Metro Manila May ease to a looser quarantine classification by the end of September 30.
He cited that based on the data from OCTA, the reproduction rate from a high of 1.90 on Aug. 8 decreased to 1.39 on Sept. 2, and 1.03 on Sept.
“Nakikita natin ‘yung pababa po nito. Maski ‘yung growth rate ng 1 week nag-negative na nga rin kaya maganda po ang indikasyon,”
On Friday, September 24, Malacañang released amended guidelines in the pilot implementation of Alert Level 4 in Metro Manila. It will take effect starting October 1 if the National Captial Region remains under Alert Level 4.
