Manila Mayor Isko Moreno to President Duterte: “Tanggalin ninyo yung mga taong walang malasakit sa kapwa niya.”
Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso asked President Rodrigo Duterte to remove officials who were insensitive to people’s plight.
On Wednesday, Mayor Moreno appealed to the President to remove government officials who failed to address the people’s plight amidst the pandemic.
Mayor Moreno once again aired his frustration on the national government’s procurement of overpriced face shields instead of buying Tocilizumab and Remdesivir for patients in an event at the Arroceros Urban Forest Park Redevelopment in Manila.
Amidst the increasing fatalities caused by the coronavirus disease, Mayor Moreno then started to encourage the President to remove officials who didn’t care about their constituents.
Mayor Moreno also denied that his criticism against the procurement of face shields wasn’t about his political plans.

Mayor Moreno’s recent statements came after Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque had defended the requirement of face shields, linking Mayor Moreno’s criticism of the policy to politics.
Roque said in a statement on Tuesday that there’s a current global supply problem with regard to the shortage in Tocilizumab and Remdesivir, adding that health officials were looking for alternate treatment drugs for COVID-19.
At one point, Mayor Moreno dared that they’ll face those officials in October 2021, which was also the month set for certificates of candidacy (COC) for the 2022 elections.
Furthermore, Mayor Moreno repeated his calls to President Duterte to dismiss those officials.
“Kaya ako Mr. President, nakikisuyo lang, we still have eight months. I don’t want to teach you what to do pero nakikiusap lang kami. Yung walang malasakit,” Mayor Moreno said.
