Duterte to Gordon: ” I heard that you want to run for vice president next year…”
Senator Richard “Dick” Gordon was only showing off to the opposition for his ambition to become vice president in the upcoming elections.
This is what President Rodrigo Duterte claimed on why the senator has been critical with the Department of Health (DOH) in relation to the ongoing investigation of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee on the purchase of medical supplies and unused funds of the agency for COVID-19 response.
In his Talk to the People, Duterte asked Gordon if the investigation is “in aid of legislation” or for his personal political interest.
The president asked: “Gordon, are you really — investigation in aid of legislation or in aid of your personal political interest? I heard that you want to run for vice president next year, and you are trying to impress the opposition that they would consider you too. Totoo ba ito?”

According to Duterte, if the senator aims for a vice-presidential seat in the upcoming elections, they will have to discuss it first and lay down his political plans and if he’s eligible to run the said post, he will be allowed to run as VP.
Earlier, Duterte announced that he will be running as vice president in the 2022 polls.
This is not the first time that the president and the incumbent senator were figured in a word war.
Previously, the President denounced Gordon’s talkativeness whom he called the champion of the “talkathon.”
According to him, Dick Gordon always calls for a hearing in the Senate but has yet to send someone into prison.
