BTS urged the youth to welcome each other to the future.
During their speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), BTS recently urged everyone, especially the youth, to welcome each other to the future.
In the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Moment live-streamed on United Nations’ YouTube channel, BTS on Monday shared stories they heard from those in their 20s and teens around the world.
Learning about their experiences, BTS members RM, Jimin, Jin, V, J-Hope, Jungkook, and Suga said that they hoped more people would still see the beauty in the future despite troubling times.
According to V, he hoped they just didn’t consider the future as grim darkness, adding that they have people who were concerned for the world and searching for answers.
He also said that there were still many pages left in the story about them and he thought they shouldn’t talk like the ending’s already been written.
RM added that the younger ones had been viewed as the “COVID-19’s lost generation”, saying that they have lost their time when they needed the most diverse opportunities and try new things.
BTS also said that this shouldn’t be the case as the new generation kept on going despite the hardships.
“Instead of the lost generation, a more appropriate name would be the welcome generation because instead of fearing change, this generation says ‘welcome’ and keeps forging ahead,” Jin said.
RM also said that they will not lose their way but discover new ones if they believed in possibilities and hoped even if the unexpected happens.
J-Hope and Suga, meanwhile, said that it’s brave of the young ones to continue on making changes even though they’re facing fear due to current happenings.

Jungkook added that they too have felt down at a point in their life, but they continued to power through life’s challenges.
Talking about the SDGs, RM said that he noticed how the younger generation had been choosing courses on the environment, which gave him hope that the future looked bright.
Towards the end of their speech, the group said that they believed that the time to see each other again was soon.
“The day we can meet again is not far away. Until then, I hope we can feel each of our days to the brim with positive energy,” V said.
BTS also prepared a video performance of “Permission to Dance”.
