According to Bong Go, his intent to run as Mayor Sara’s vice president “only holds if she decides to run for the presidency” and if President Rodrigo Duterte “does not run for the vice presidency”.

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Cusi-led ruling party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) had endorsed a “Go-President Duterte” tandem to be adopted during its September 8 convention in San Jose del Monte city (Bulacan).

However, Bong Go said in a letter to party president and Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi that he formally turned down the party council’s endorsement for a “Go-Duterte” tandem.

According to Bong Go, many have encouraged him to run for president in 2022 with President Duterte as his vice president even before there’s still no formal endorsement from his partymates.

Bong Go also shared that when he learned that there were some aspirants who wished to be Mayor Sara’s vice president in case she decided to run for the presidency, he expressed his willingness to be considered in Mayor Sara’s list of choices and had his name listed knowing his devotion to the Dutertes.

He added that he hoped his experience in the past two national elections and in serving Mayor Sara’s father for more than two decades can help her reach her goals for the Philippines, regardless of what role he will take (whether as a vice-presidential candidate or as a campaigner).

Kung anong pagmamahal ko sa tatay ay ganun rin sa kanyang mga anak,” Bong Go added.
