Philippine Government Looking To Buy More Sinopharm COVID-19 Vaccine Doses — Domingo

The Philippine government was looking to buy more Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses, according to Domingo.

On Sunday, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director-General Eric Domingo said that the Philippine government was looking to buy more doses of the China-made Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine in order to augment the nation’s vaccination efforts.

The Philippine government was looking to buy more Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses, according to Domingo.

In a report on GMA News Online, Domingo said that the government was awaiting donation of more than one million Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses, which the Philippine government granted an emergency use authorization (EUA) last June.

When asked about details on the procurement of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses, Domingo said in an interview on Dobol B TV that there will be a donation of one million Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses and procurements will be done in the following months afterward.

Domingo earlier said that Sinovac was the most common COVID-19 vaccine used in the Philippines, followed by AstraZeneca and Pfizer. According to Domingo, Sputnik V was still the lowest because of the limited vaccine supply.

The said vaccine was used for President Rodrigo Duterte’s full vaccination. Much earlier, the said vaccine became controversial after it was used for Presidential Security Group (PSG) members prior to the Philippine government’s EUA grant.
