The 18-year-old beauty queen is the representative of Marinduque in the much-awaited pageant and is among the Top 75 of the competition.

According to Simone, she is an ally of the LGBTQ+ community.

This is because she grew up with her biological father and her stepfather who were both gay.

“I’ve lived with it,” she said when asked why one of her advocacies is being an LGBTQ+ ally.

Her gay parents are also said to be Simone’s inspiration. She said her parents put their family first even though they are being mocked.

She stressed that because of the efforts of her parents, their situation in life improved.

Simone Nadine Bornilla believes that there is still a lack of social acceptance of members of the LGBTQ+ community especially living in a country built on religious ideologies.

On top of that, Simone is indeed proud of her family background.

In fact, she mentioned this in her video introduction as a candidate for Miss Universe Philippines.

She also proudly posted it on her Instagram account.

Simone Nadine Bornilla is a former Miss Teen Philippines and competed in India for Miss Teen International, where she won the continental title.

She is an incoming freshman at De La Salle University and will take a Medical Biology course.

Meanwhile, among the top contender in the much-awaited Miss Universe Philippines 2021 are Kirsten Danielle “Kisses” Delavin and Maureen Wroblewitz.

This year’s winner will replace the outgoing titleholder, Rabiya Mateo- who competed in the Miss Universe 2020 but only clinched the Top 21. On the other hand, Andrea Meza from Mexico won the coveted title.
